Wordpress Website Design

What is a Wordpress website?
Wordpress began as a simple blogging platform that opened up the world of web publishing to the masses. Over the years, Wordpress has matured into a full-fledged web content management system (CMS) capable of just about anything you can imagine. And you don't need to know any HTML — or anything else about computers and such — to post your own web content.

Of course, like any other new undertaking, you can put your mind to it and learn everything there is to know about Wordpress. Do-It-Yourself, in essence. But that's a tall order. The website still has to be designed, the code that Wordpress sits on top of has to be written; a database must be created and accessed properly; style sheets manipulated; images sized, uploaded and optimized; and so on and so on. In other words, you are probably going to need a little help getting started.

We build the site and you take over. Or not. (Or a little.)
Our sites that run on Wordpress feature an administration area (content management system) that allows you, the client, to make your own updates after the website is finished and online — add pictures, change text, etc.

That's one option. The other is to let us make the more difficult updates, and you pitch in when and where you can.
Why ask us to make updates?
You might think that everyone would choose a site with a CMS so they can make their own changes whenever they want. Well, some clients do. Some people enjoy maintaining their own site, and there's no arguing it will save you a little money.

But there is something very important to take into consideration — time. Specifically, your time. Even a CMS designed to make keeping your website up-to-date takes quite a lot of time ... time you would probably rather spend running your business or organization. Add in the learning curve getting up to speed on the CMS, itself, and suddenly you have another part-time job.

We do Wordpress updates, too
Many of our clients choose traditional website design and leave all the updates to us. Others choose a Wordpress (CMS) site and make some of the routine updates, themselves. Blog posts, for example.

Just remember that when you want something changed or added but just don't have the time, know-how, or plain old patience or inclination to make them yourself, just send us an email at clientupdates@tonypowellcreative.com. Most updates are done the same day.
